How to Get Free Grants From the Government for an LPN

The total cost of attending a Practical Nurse program (LPN) will vary by location and whether or not the college is a public or private institution. Fortunately there are multiple options available to a LPN student to find free government grants. Whether it's federal or state government, free grants are available. Some states will even pay for much of or all of your LPN schooling if you agree to work for a few years in a community which is special need of nurses.

Instructions

    • 1

File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). FAFSA determines a student's eligibility for federal grants and loans based on items such as household income and the number of dependents the student might have.

    • 2

Visit the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's financial resources website for a list of available grants for LPN students.

    • 3

Ask your nursing school's financial aid department if they can provide you with available government grants to apply for to help you pay for the LPN program.

    • 4

Contact the state's board of nursing website and state's board of regents website for possible LPN grant opportunities.
