The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is a federally funded organization that provides housing benefits to those who qualify. The United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) issues grants funding to injured, disabled and deceased members of the United States military and their immediate, dependent family members. These grants help to offset the expenses of housing and education and may benefit children of women who have served in the armed forces and were disabled while on duty. In order to qualify for grant funding through the US Department of Veterans Affairs, applicants must either be a former member of the military who was honorably discharged as a result of a service related injury or disability or an immediate family member of a deceased member of the military who was killed or died as a result of injuries sustained in the line of duty.
