Collect all necessary documentation, then go online to FAFSA.com to fill out the form (see Resources). Once you have reached this site, review Section One, titled "Before Beginning a FAFSA." This section helps you determine whether you are a dependent or independent student, guides you through finding your school codes, teaches you about your online PIN and provides deadlines for completing the online FAFSA form.
Continue by right clicking on Section Two, titled "Filling out a FAFSA." Once you have opened up this page, select the school year you wish to apply for. Once you have selected the school year, enter the following information in the blanks provided:
Social Security Number
Last Name
First Name
Date of Birth
Password
Fill out all requested information. It is important to be as accurate as possible. Section One is for Student Information and enrollment status. Section Two determines your status. Section Three is for parental information, which will be needed if you are a dependant student. Section Four is for your tax documentation. Section Five is for colleges and housing.
Complete the form and save it in the system. Feel free to call 1-800-FED-AID for assistance on your FAFSA form.
Go to Section Three on the site to check the status, correct your online form, update school information and print documents.
