The National Science Foundation offers fellowship grants for graduate students. The foundation determines recipients based on educational merit. Communications technology company Lucent Technologies, in conjunction with communications technology research and development giant Bell Labs, offers an annual grant called the Bell Labs Science Grant. The grant program is set up to benefit Hispanic, African-American and Native American students headed to college. These students need to demonstrate an interest in scientific studies.

The Ford Motor Co. has established the Ford Foundation, which offers private education grants. The foundation is interested in funding students studying in areas that are within the focus of the foundation. The student needs to be pursuing a master's degree or Ph.D to be considered.
