Paramedic to RN Degrees

As level-four emergency medical technicians, paramedics already have training in trauma assessment, health crisis intervention and, to a certain degree, medication administration. It therefore makes sense that many paramedics seek to earn licensure as registered nurses, which opens more career opportunities.

Hundreds of educational institutions that offer training toward the RN license have "bridge" or "transition" programs specifically for paramedics, which take into account the paramedics' previous training and expedite the RN preparation process.
  1. Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College

    • The Nursing department at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M offers a "fast track" option for paramedics to earn an associate's degree while you continue to work. To be admitted to the fast track and skip certain introductory courses, you'll need to take a placement exam administered on campus in Grove, Oklahoma. (The non-fast-track program is given at the campus in Miami, Oklahoma.) You'll also have to show that you previously completed specific prerequisite coursework with a grade of C or better.
