The University of Cincinnati is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, and offers an online bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, which includes extensive training in phlebotomy. Prospective students must have an associate degree in clinical laboratory technology or equivalent and a minimum grade-point average of 2.5. Students complete the theoretical portion of their training online and satisfy the their clinical training at a local health care facility. Students complete 10 credits per quarter and earn a bachelor's degree within two years. After successful completion of the program, graduates will become eligible to take the national certification examination. The Associate of Science degree in medical assisting prepares students for entry-level careers in health services. Students receive training in medical assisting duties, which includes performing urinalysis, giving injections, phlebotomy, and performing minor surgical procedures.
