To become a simulator technician, you must earn an associate of applied science degree in simulator maintenance technology. Students have the option of getting a bachelor's degree in electronics, engineering or aviation after they receive their associate degree. The bachelor's degree offers more job transfer possibilities.
During simulator technician training, students will learn how to troubleshoot, repair and maintain pilot training simulators and other mechanical simulator components. Simulators are machines that can malfunction. Students are prepared for these occurrences by learning how to use specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to help fix or remove faulty components. Among the course titles for the associate and diploma programs are Ground School, Digital Integration Circuits, and Emerging Technologies.
General education credits are required in addition to the associate program curriculum for simulator technician training. These include English and communication skills, humanities, mathematics, and physical education.
