Transport Training International (TTI) offers two at-home study courses, and these courses include the following: Online Freight Broker Training and Accelerated In-Depth Freight Broker Web Conference. The Online Freight Broker Training course lets you study at your own pace, and you can go to class when you want to. You must complete seven lessons to pass the course, and this class covers material like calculating freight rates, learning about the broker's role and negotiating shipper rates. The Accelerated In-Depth Freight Broker Web Conference course requires you to participate in web conferences, but you study the materials at home. At the end of this course, you receive a Graduation Certificate.
Brooke Transportation Training Solutions has a five-day freight broker training course, and it is offered in the following locations: Ontario, California; Jacksonville, Florida; Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas and Charlotte, North Carolina. This course teaches you freight broker fundamentals, marketing, sales and broker operations. It trains you how to work as either an independent broker or an agency broker. This course involves in-class lectures, hands-on training and videos.
The Turbo Transportation Group (TTG) offers online and on-site training courses. The online training course is 10 days long, and you learn about industry licensing requirements, types of equipment and how to start and run a business. You can participate in on-the-job training by working for an agency. The on-site training course is three days long, and takes place at the company's educational complex in Kewanee, Illinois. In this class, you learn about contract agreements, regulations, how to fill out broker forms and how to communicate with carriers.
The North Carolina State University's Office of Professional Development has a Freight Broker/Agent Training program, which is a 150 hour program. You learn how to create a freight agency or brokerage from the ground up and about freight brokerage fundamentals. You must complete the program within six months, or request an additional six month extension. Coursework includes broker laws, industry overview, requirements, marketing and sales. You also learn how to obtain your freight broker license.
