The ATI Career Training Center has what it calls an Occupational Associate of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology program. Students can complete the program in two years, with courses in subject areas such as electronic communications, AC and DC circuits, computer operations and digital electronics. ATI offers the program at four of its campuses in Florida, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
Located in Boston, the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology offers an Associate of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology. Like ATI, the program takes up to two years to complete. Students at BFIT take courses that add up to 64 credits, which are divided into 39 credits for the technical classes and 35 credits for the general education classes. The core courses include Introduction to Programming Logic and C++, Medical Instrumentation and Embedded Processors. The general education classes mostly consist of English composition, physics and calculus subject areas.
ITT Tech offers an associate degree in Computer and Electronics Engineering Technology, as well as a bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering Technology. Students who want a higher level of training and enhanced earning potential are advised to go for the bachelor's degree, which usually takes twice as long as the associate program to complete. Typical subject areas explored in each program include communications cabling, data and network communications, C++ programming and electronic circuit design. As of January 2011, ITT Tech offers the electronics engineering programs at more than 100 of its campuses throughout the United States.
Like ITT Tech, the Kansas-based Pittsburg State University offers a bachelor's degree in electronics engineering. Students need up to 128 credits to complete the program, which offers specializations such as telecommunications and aerospace electronics. Courses at Pittsburg State include Linear Integrated Circuits, Engineering Graphics, Network System, Microcontrollers and Fluid Mechanics.
