The Juilliard School, located at Lincoln Center in New York City, was founded in 1905 as the Institute of Musical Art. The school was named after Augustus Juilliard and added a dance school in 1951 and a drama school in 1968 to its already prestigious music institution. The school changed its name from the Juilliard School of Music to The Juilliard School. Alumni from Juilliard have won over 105 Grammy Awards, 62 Tony Awards and 47 Emmy Awards.

The LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts is located on Amsterdam Avenue in New York City and was founded in 1936 by then New York City Mayor Fiorello H. LaGuardia. His aim was to create a facility where public high school students who are especially gifted and talented in music and performing arts could have a school where they could focus on their respective skills while also receiving a general academic education.
The Tisch School of the Performing Arts at New York University was founded in 1965 as a place to train NYU students in the arts of theater and film. Since that time, the Tisch School has established itself as one of the premier performing arts schools in America and has since opened up schools for dance, cinema studies and theater design. The school was named after Lawrence A. and Preston Robert Tisch and currently has a student enrollment of 3,200.
