What are the Top Business Schools Globally?

The top business schools globally are those schools that have internationally focused MBA (Master of Business Administration) programs that allow students to study abroad and network with other business professionals around the world. "Financial Times" ranks the top global MBA programs worldwide each year based on factors such as placement rates, research output and average starting salaries of graduates. Two of the top three schools were American schools in 2010.
  1. London Business School

    • "Financial Times" ranked the London Business School (LBS) as the top global MBA program in 2010. LBS is widely respected in the international business community for its international focus in business education. Other publications like Business Week corroborate the fact the LBS is a top program, although the publication did rank the school as only the fifth-highest-rated non-U.S. business program. Nonetheless, the London school offers a number of different opportunities for its students who can pursue a number of different degree options. LBS has a "global" executive MBA program along with the more traditional two-year program for students without much executive management experience. Other masters degrees are offered in finance, strategy and leadership and management. Ph.D. programs include studies in fields such as management science and operations, strategic and international management and organizational behavior.

    University of Pennsylvania

    • Second on the "Financial Times" list of global programs for 2010, the University of Pennsylvania has long been regarded as one of the top business programs in the world. Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business has an international presence because of its established relationships with a number of prominent international business schools such as Spain's INSEAD. Nearly 40 percent of the student body within the business school is also of international origin. With over 70 different countries represented within the school, Wharton graduates use their business training to impact their home country or to help further establish Wharton's international presence. One of the hallmarks of the Wharton program as a whole is its "Global Immersion Program" in which students study in blocks of time in various international locations. Students can also study in the field of international studies thanks to Wharton's ongoing relationship with the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.

    Harvard Business School

    • The third highest rated global business program for 2010 was the Harvard University program. Like the program at Wharton, Harvard has established relationships with business schools all over the world. Approximately 35 percent of the Harvard Business School's student body is of international origin. Harvard's relationships across the globe extend to cities and countries such as Paris, Brazil, Hong Kong, Mumbai and Tokyo. Harvard's sponsorship of several prominent research centers also contributes to its global presence; six of these centers exist in areas such as Hong Kong, California, India and Japan. Also important to Harvard's ability to establish an international presence it its annual research budget that regularly exceeds $100 million.
