Question if this is what you want. Entering a nursing program directly after high school is for people who are sure that they want to pursue nursing and have no other strong ambitions or doubts. Volunteer at a local hospital before entering a nursing program to ensure that this is what you want to do. Revaluate your professional goals, if you have doubts about pursing a career in nursing.
Figure out if you are academically ready for nursing school. Nursing programs, which take three years to complete, can take a toll on students. Around one third of all nursing students do not graduate. With the large work load and hospital hours, make sure that you are up for the academic challenge of learning medications, health procedures, emergency protocol and the entire skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and nervous systems.
Ask yourself if you have the experience to go to nursing school. Despite having the grades and recommendations, nursing schools will need to know that you have experience as well. You have a better chance of getting into a nursing school if you have experience and references. Consider taking vocational nursing classes at a junior college or obtain your bachelor's degree in Biology to gain experience.
