For accounting students, Boston University has couple of options: a bachelor of science in business administration (BSBA) with an accounting concentration and a certificate of advanced accounting (CAA). The BSBA program combines core courses from the School of Management and the College of Arts & Science with other electives and 16 credits in the accounting field. The CAA program is a 16-credit summer program created to fulfill the 150-credit-hour requirement for becoming a certified public accountant in Massachusetts.
The University of Massachusetts Boston (UMB) offers undergraduate and graduate programs in accounting. Undergraduates can earn a bachelor of science in management with an accounting concentration. The program comprises general studies, core management foundation courses and a concentration of accounting courses. In graduate degrees, UMB offers a master of science in accounting, which is designed to fulfill the 150-hour requirement mandated in 2002 by the Board of Accountancy of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for becoming a certified public accountant.
Northeastern University offers both undergraduate and graduate accounting programs. Undergraduates can pursue a BSBA with an accounting concentration. The program features courses covering topics such as financial administration, accounting information systems and strategic cost analysis. A master of science in accounting is also available. The program requires no previous work experience, so it can be taken immediately following a baccalaureate program.
Suffolk University offers a BSBA in accounting as well as several graduate degrees in the accounting filed. The BSBA from Suffolk is a 124-credit program requiring 24 credits in addition to Accounting and Decision Making I and II. The second component of the BSBA is experience-based and requires students to complete at least 150 hours of pre-professional or professional accounting experience. Suffolk University offers four master's degrees in the accounting field: master of science degrees in accounting and in taxation, and master of business administration concentrations in accounting and in taxation.
