ASU's School of Human Evolution and Social Change prides itself on its holistic approach to the study of anthropology. In 2004, the university transformed itself into a transdisciplinary program that can respond to social changes in a new era. The school offers bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees. CUNY's anthropology program falls just under the University of Chicago in the number of MacArthur "Genius" awards held by its alumni. Students pursuing a doctoral degree have the option to take classes at colleges in nearby New York City through an agreement between CUNY college and a handful of city schools. The school's course list offers varied classes in theory, history and anthropological methodology. University of Chicago's graduate program provides a student with the option to register for a joint degree in the anthropology and linguistic departments. Other joint degrees can be arranged with the history department or any number of language departments. A student pursuing a joint degree need only write one dissertation, but this final feat must meet the requirements of both departments. The university hosts innumerable workshops and research studies that reflect the expertise of its student body and faculty. The institution boasts the most MacArthur "Genius" awards of any anthropology program.
Many other accredited universities offer students quality education in anthropology. It is not uncommon for a student to begin her bachelor's degree studies at one school and continue her postgraduate work at another. Study-aboard programs are often another selling point for anthropology programs, particularly when a student's interests lie with world cultures.
