Go to the American Nuclear Society homepage, at http://www.new.ans.org. Click on the membership tab and select JOIN ANS from the drop-down menu. From the list on the left side of the screen click JOIN ONLINE. Fill out the online application. When the annual dues are paid, you will be an active member in the American Nuclear Society.
Go to the American Nuclear Society homepage and click on the meetings tab. Click on the category, National Meetings and Embedded Topicals. View the list of meetings that are coming up in the near future and register by clicking under the meeting of interest.
Become a member of a scientific social networking site. ResearchGate is a recently developed site that allows scientists from all over the world in academics, government and industry to hold discussions on research topics. To access the site go to www.researchgate.net. Scroll down and click the button that says "Sign up for free." Fill in the required information to become a site user. When logged on, go to the profile page and click on the "Home" icon in the upper right portion of the screen. At the Home page click on "groups" on the left side of the page under your name. This will bring you to the "Groups" page. Scroll down to the section that says "Browse by Categories." From this section click the "physics" tab, and then under the "refine by discipline" heading click "elementary particle physics." This will display all the groups that are currently discussing topics in atomic fusion and the members associated with each group. Click on a group of interest to comment on any member's post to initiate a discussion.
