How to Find a P-Bar in Calculus

Statistical Process Control (SPC) is an area of calculus that deals with analyzing quality assurance. A number of formulas can be incorporated and used to determine the p-chart, which determines the quality of the output of any given entity. A term known as "p-bar" refers to the percentage of output units that are faulty. With the right information "p-bar" is easy to calculate.

Instructions

    • 1

Record and make note of the total units output by an entity. For example, if you are examining the quality of a shipment of soup cans, you must make a note of how many total units are in the shipment. This number will be referred to as "x."

    • 2

Record and make note of the faulty units output. Following the soup example, you must make note of all faulty cans of soup in the shipment. This number will be referred to as "y."

    • 3

Divide "x" by "y." This number is the p-bar.
