Set your page formatting. MLA requires your Works Cited list to be double-spaced. Also indent the second line of each reference.
Write the author's name. This is the first part of the e-book citation. Type the last name and then the first name, separated by a comma. For instance, Doe, John M.
Type the title of the e-book. Use italics to indicate the title of the e-book. Alternatively, it is permissible to underline the title of the e-book. Do one or the other, not both. Immediately following the title, indicate subsequent editions (2nd, 3rd, etc.)
List the publication information. This includes the place of publication, publisher and year of publication. This information is typically available in the front matter of the e-book on the copyright page. Separate the place of publication and the publisher with a colon. For example: "New York: Penguin, 2009."
Write where you accessed the e-book. For example, if you viewed or downloaded the book from your school library, type "NYU Library." Likewise, if you purchased the book from Amazon.com, simply indicate the name, "Amazon."
Type the category of the source. MLA designates electronic sources as Web Publications. Simply write "Web" for an e-book.
Write the date you accessed the e-book. For example, April 14th, 2011.
Ensure that your information is complete. Your reference should have the e-book information listed as follows: Author's Last Name, First Name Middle Initial. Title of Book: edition. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year. Place of access. Web. Date of access.
