      Prepare for the test before you sign in to your student portal to complete the exam. Complete all reading assignments and homework projects for materials that will be covered on the exam. If your exam questions are listed in an exam book rather than on pages of your online test, answer all questions before signing in to start the test.

      Give the online test your undivided attention. Select a time when you will not be distracted and ask family and friends not to disturb you. Turn off any instant messaging programs that you have set to run while you are online.

      Sign in to your student portal and access your exam. Methods of accessing online exams vary depending upon the system, but every system includes instructions, usually in the student resources section of the virtual classroom resources or in your student handbook. If you are still unsure how to access the exam, send an email to the instructor or an online advisor.

      Read all instructions on the examination process before starting the test. If the test is timed, the instructions will explain how long you have to complete it. They should also state whether or not you will be able to access the exam if you lose your Internet connection or are log out of the exam for any reason. If there is any information in the exam instructions that you do not understand, contact an instructor before proceeding.

      Complete all sections of the exam. Carefully review each page of your test before submitting and moving on to the next page. Check to make sure that you have not left any questions blank. Do not skip any sections of the exam unless the instructions clearly state that you can complete segments of the test out order.

      Carefully submit your exam after you have completed all sections. Double check to ensure that your exam was submitted properly. You should receive some type of confirmation message upon submitting your exam. If you have any difficulty submitting your exam, contact your instructor immediately in order to receive instructions on what steps will need to be taken to retake the exam.
