Online Classes Vs. Campus Classes

Online classes are offered by most colleges and universities today. You can even earn your degree entirely online. There are some similarities between campus classes and online classes, but there are also important differences.
  1. Cost

    • Online classes can be more expensive than campus classes. For example, Davenport University charges $435 per credit hour for campus classes and $455 per credit hour for online classes (see Resources).

    Flexibility

    • You must attend a campus class at a set time. You can log into an online class at your convenience.

    Quality

    • You will learn the same amount of material in either an online or campus class. The same textbook and the same assignments will be required.

    Help

    • If you need help with a campus class, you can visit your instructor during office hours. However, if you need help with an online class, you have to email your instructor and wait for a reply.

    Learning Styles

    • If you are a visual learner, online classes may be difficult as they entail a great deal of reading. Other the other hand, if you have good reading retention, an online class can work out well for you.
