Dedicate time every day to work on your coursework. This may include reading material for your class or completing an assignment or evaluation. If you continually push off doing the work, you may find yourself behind in your class or even failing.
Communicate with your professor and the other students taking the class. It is easy to feel alone in your venture and to forget that you have a professor and classmates. Communicating allows you to ask questions and to keep you focused on the fact that this is still a class.
Participate in class discussions if the class warrants it. Some colleges offer special chat rooms for each class where students can discuss the course material and assignments. For some classes, your participation may be expected.
Read through all of the instructions for each assignment. When you take an online class, you may feel like you can skip the instructions; however, reading the instructions should give you direction and answer any questions you may have. If you need further clarification, run questions by your professor or your fellow students.
Slow down and work through your coursework at a pace that allows you to retain the information. Review often anything that you struggle with to help gain a better understanding of the material. It may be tempting to rush through everything to be done with it; however, online classes are graded in much the same way as traditional classes. If you rush, your grade will suffer.
