San Juan College in New Mexico has an online physical therapy assistant program that s accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Toward the end of each semester, students are required to be on campus for one week per lab course. Students who complete this program receive an Associate's of Applied Science degree. The online curriculum consists of courses such as introduction to physical therapy assisting, clinical kinesiology, therapeutic exercise, pathophysiology and principles of rehabilitation. Students in this program are required to complete their clinical experience on a part-time schedule in the summer semester of their second year and begin the fall semester of the second year with a full-time schedule to complete their clinical experience.

Metropolitan Community College in Kansas City offers its physical therapy assistant program in affiliation with Johnson County Community College and leads students to completing an Associate's in Applied Science degree after two years. This program has an option for students to complete the class work in an online format and is accredited by CAPTE. Students are required to complete their clinical experiences at four clinical sites for a total of 720 hours. Courses include introduction to physical therapy, medical terminology, physical therapy fundamentals, medical diseases, basic emergency patient care, therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation.

Whatcom Community College in Washington has physical therapist assistant program that is accredited by CAPTE on a probationary status. Students who complete this program earn an associate's degree. The program has a part-time, online hybrid option, where students have two years to complete the core courses after completing the general education and prerequisites requirements in one year. This format of the program is completed in nine quarters with the clinical experience portion of the program completed in two quarters. Students take core courses including introduction to physical therapy, ethical issues in physical therapy, survey of pathophysiology, special topics in physical therapy, and manual therapy techniques for physical therapy assistants.
