To be eligible for the EAP, students must:
- Be first-year students at UVA in the College of Arts & Sciences or the School of Engineering.
- Have a strong academic record, with a minimum GPA of 3.8.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in medicine and have relevant extracurricular experiences, such as shadowing physicians, volunteering in healthcare settings, or participating in research.
Students who meet these criteria can apply to the EAP during the spring semester of their first year. The application process includes submitting an application form, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement.
Successful EAP candidates will be interviewed by the medical school admissions committee. If admitted, they will receive an early assurance of admission to the UVA School of Medicine and will be able to complete their undergraduate studies without having to go through the regular medical school application process.
The UVA EAP is a competitive program, and only a limited number of students are accepted each year. However, it offers an excellent opportunity for highly qualified students to secure their future in medicine and begin their medical education at one of the top medical schools in the country.
