King Saud University in Riyadh in a top-ranked university in the Middle East, according to the 2009 Shanghai Rankings. It is the only Arab school in the top 500 international universities, according to the same ranking body. The KSU College of Medicine and University Hospitals system offers undergraduate and graduate degrees for would-be doctors and other medical professionals. Clinical disciplines and specialties are available, as well as a basic science curriculum. The college has colleges of dentistry and pharmacy as well. Undergraduates seeking admission to any of the three colleges face the same requirements, including two exams, an interview and strong high school grades.

The College of Medicine at Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah Al Mukarramah offers a complete BMBS degree in a seven-year program. The program is divided into three sections. The first three years are basic classroom and laboratory medicine. English language coursework for medical professionals is emphasized as well, along with a core curriculum of Islamic culture and Arabic language. This phase is akin to the American education systems undergraduate period. The following two years are focused on clinical subjects in a lab and classroom, and the program concludes with two years of supervised training in a hospital setting.
