* Biology: This is absolutely essential. Veterinary medicine is fundamentally about biology – animal anatomy, physiology, genetics, and disease.
* Chemistry: Understanding chemistry is crucial for understanding medications, toxicology, and many bodily processes.
* Physics: While less directly applicable than biology and chemistry, a basic understanding of physics is helpful for understanding things like medical imaging and some aspects of animal mechanics.
While not always required, these can also be beneficial:
* Anatomy & Physiology: Some high schools offer a combined course, which provides a great head start.
