Radiologic technologists do not need to go to medical school, but they do need to complete a training program. Training programs for radiologic technologists are typically offered at community colleges or technical schools and generally require two years of full-time study. Upon completion of a training program, radiologic technologists must pass a national examination in order to earn their license.
Radiologic technologists use X-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and other imaging techniques to create images of the body for diagnostic purposes. They work closely with doctors and other health care professionals to provide essential information for patient care.
