In some cases, the degree may be written before the person's name, but this is less common. For example, MD John Doe or Ph.D Jane Smith.
When using the full name of a person with an MD or Ph.D., the degree should be written after the last name. For example, John Doe, MD, FACS or Jane Smith, Ph.D., RN.
If a person has multiple degrees, the highest degree should be listed first. For example, John Doe, MD, Ph.D. or Jane Smith, Ph.D., JD.
