Law School Requirements in Ontario

Ontario, Canada contains seven accredited law schools. Each has its own merits; however, they all contain a consistent set of requirements.
  1. Undergraduate Degree

    • Ontario law schools all require at least three years of completed full-time undergraduate study. Most of the schools prefer a completed undergraduate degree. The best two years of undergraduate study are considered, with a minimum requirement of "A-" grades.

    LSAT

    • All students must complete the LSAT. Ontario law schools do not set a minimum; however, a 160 or higher offers an applicant the best chance of admission.

    Personal Statements and Referee Forms

    • All Ontario law schools require a personal statement. Additionally, they all require two referee forms. One of these forms must be from an academic setting.

    Other Requirements

    • The schools have some individualized requirements that are not constant throughout Ontario. Examples of this are aboriginal status, resumes for applicants of a certain age and a TOEFL score. Refer to an individual law school's website for more information.
