Information About Tier 4 Law Schools

Law school rankings are published by U.S. News & World Report on an annual basis in order to show how law schools rank in the country. They are ranked according to the best program which includes students with higher grade point averages, higher test scores and extracurricular activities. There are four tiers in the ranking system. Tier 4 is the lowest rank due to academic acceptance standards that are lower by the school and programs that are not well established compared to other universities. Tier 4 law schools usually are able to accept students who have average academic performances. They tend to have higher acceptance rates compared to higher tier law schools. There are several laws schools that are found under the Tier 4 category out of the 187 total law schools in the United States.
  1. John Marshall Law School

    • John Marshall Law School accepts 500 students for every 1,700 applications. Law school is competitive so even for a Tier 4 law school there are ways to stand out from the crowd including activities outside of school and having competitive tests scores and GPA.

    Michigan State University Law School

    • Michigan State University Law School has an average LSAT for admission of 152. Applicants with higher LSAT schools are given a closer look at by the admissions' committee compared with those lower LSAT scores. Michigan State University tends to look at other factors aside from an applicant's LSAT scores such as an individual's personal character.

    St. Mary's University Law School

    • St. Mary's University Law School in Texas has smaller classes sizes compared to those around the country. This allows the student to get individual attention with professors of law. Some students prefer smaller classes as a better learning environment. Since the school is private, tuition may be higher compared to other state university law schools.

    Other Tier 4 Law Schools

    • There are several other Tier 4 schools that you can consider applying to during the application process. These include Chapman University, North Carolina Central University, Golden Gate University, Mississippi College, New England School of Law, Ohio Northern University, Regent University, Northern Kentucky University and Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
