Top Biomedical Engineering Graduate Schools

Bioengineering is one of the youngest of the engineering sub-disciplines. Getting into a top-rated biomedical engineering graduate program can be very difficult. Professors and advisers in your bachelor's degree program can also be a valuable source of information about graduate programs. Ratings for the top biomedical engineering schools in the United States are ranked based on a process of peer review by college deans and senior faculty.
  1. Johns Hopkins University

    • The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University offers master's, doctoral degrees and post-doctoral fellowships. In its 2010 ranking, U.S. News & World Report named this school top biomedical engineering program in the United States. The campus is located in Baltimore, Maryland. The department has 35 primary faculty and 45 adjunct or part-time professors. Areas of research at Johns Hopkins include medical imaging, cardiovascular systems, systems neuroscience and tissue engineering. The school's website claims nine startup companies have resulted from faculty research.
