How to Apply to Harvard Business School

Harvard has always been known for having one of the best business schools in the United States. The application process is long and involved and there are a number of items that you will need to prepare. Ensure that your application is complete so it is not rejected or unprocessed.

  1. Graduate School Applicaton Process

    • 1

      Prepare for and take the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) or GRE (Graduate Record Examination) . Direct the testing facility to report the scores to Harvard. Repeat the test if a higher score is desired.

      Create a current resume that includes all education and relevant career information. This should include any business, accounting or management experience that you have.

      Request letters of recommendation from three people who can attest to your potential for success in a graduate program. These letters should be from professors or employers who know your work.

      Complete the online application along with responses to four essay questions (see Resources). Sign Harvard's Community Values Statement and Statement of Application Integrity and pay the $250 application fee with a credit card. The fee is reduced to $100 for current college seniors.

      Request a transcript from all colleges that you have attended. Ask the college to send the transcripts directly to Harvard.

      Attend an interview if invited. You may inquire about the status of an interview, but the admissions committee will only invite candidates that they choose.
