How to Draft an Acceptance Statement

An acceptance statement is drafted by someone who is taking a new position and wants to impress the board or hiring officer by thanking them for the offer and officially accepting the deal. Drafting an acceptance letter shows that you respect the position that you are taking. When you draft a statement of acceptance, there are certain clauses that you should consider.

Instructions

    • 1

Address the letter to the person or board who has offered you the position. Place the date of your letter in the upper right-hand corner of the letter. Place your return address on the upper left-hand corner.

    • 2

Accept the extended offer in the first sentence of the letter. This should be a simple sentence stating that it is with pleasure that you accept the offer. Thank the person offering you the position.

    • 3

State the job title, the compensation details, and the starting date as outlined in previous verbal or written conversations. This should be done in the second paragraph of your acceptance statement. Outlining the details of the position makes it clear that this is your understanding of the position and your salary. This helps alleviate any misunderstandings.

    • 4

Outline any contingencies that affect your employment. If you are graduating from school, note that you are expecting to graduate on a specific date and that you are available after that point. If you are relocating from a different city, note the date that you expect to move and become available to work.

    • 5

Thank the addressee again at the end of your acceptance statement and sign the document. Proofread your letter.
