It's extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get into university in the UK without GCSE English (or a comparable qualification). While some universities might be more flexible than others, GCSE English is almost universally considered a fundamental requirement for entry to higher education. The reasoning is that strong English and communication skills are crucial for success in almost all degree programs.
While some universities *might* consider alternative qualifications or evidence of equivalent skills in exceptional circumstances, these are rare exceptions and relying on them would be a high-risk strategy. It's far better to ensure you have the necessary qualifications, including GCSE English.
