Community Colleges in Indianapolis

Indianapolis, the capital of Indiana, is a major city in the Midwest and the hub of a nine-county metropolitan area with a population of about 1.8 million people. All community college campuses in the area are part of Ivy Tech Community College, a statewide network of campuses. The college offers about 150 two-year programs in subjects including business, technology, health sciences, liberal arts, fine arts and more. Ivy Tech has two campuses in Indianapolis and it offers classes at numerous off-site locations and online. Many of the general education classes are offered at either location or off-site. Certain specialized courses may be offered only at one of the two main locations.
  1. Ivy Tech Community College-North Meridian Campus

    • Located in downtown Indianapolis, the North Meridian Campus has many buildings covering several blocks. Besides the main building (North Meridian Center), there is the Glick Technology Center, the International Medical Group building, and smaller classroom buildings. This location also houses the Office of Community Campuses, which oversees the off-site classes.

    Ivy Tech Community College-Lawrence Campus

    • Located in the northeast part of the city, the Lawrence Campus offers general education and it also houses the Fairbanks Center for Health Professions, where nursing and related courses are offered, and the Public Safety Building, which offers classes in environmental safety, fire science and related fields.

    Ivy Tech Community Campuses

    • In addition to the two main campuses, Ivy Tech offers over 400 classes at 16 sites throughout the metro area, providing convenience to students in outlying areas. These sites include numerous area high schools, career centers and conference centers. Most of the classes are offered at night, but some sites offer day courses, Saturday courses and summer courses.
