Connecticut Forensic Schools

With shows like "CSI" and "The Forensic Files" leading television in popularity, interest in forensic science is at an all time high. As more and more students look for forensic programs in university, colleges are beginning to offer classes and programs in forensic training. In Connecticut there is only one degree offering institution for forensics, but other schools offer certificates or introductory classes to the field.
  1. University of New Haven Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences

    • The University of New Haven Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences offers a bachelor's and master's program in forensics. Students are expected to focus their studies on either chemistry or biology, and many forensics students graduate with two degrees. Henry C. Lee, the college's namesake, is a world renowned forensic expert and serves on the colleges staff. Many of the other faculty are also well known in the field.

    Post University

    • Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut offers a certificate program in forensic accounting, and two courses in biology and environmental forensics. The certificate program is offered through the online branch of the school and covers topics like money laundering, identity theft and hidden assets. The biology and environmental forensics courses are offered as part of the regular school course schedule and require a biology or environmental prerequisite as well as permission of the instructor.

    Charter Oak State College

    • Charter Oak State College in New Britain, Connecticut, offers an introduction course to the field of forensic science. The course lasts 15 weeks, and is administered completely online. Course topics include crime scene investigations, fiber, hair and ballistic evidence analysis, how forensic labs work with court systems, and a slew of other topics. The course cannot be used towards other science programs, but is an excellent primer for students interested in the field of forensics.
