Ask yourself if the educational goals are attainable. The goals must be realistic in order to have a chance of achieving them. If your goals are not realistic then it is in your best interest to reevaluate the goal and reset it to a more attainable level. Be honest with yourself. Know your capabilities and your limitations and set your goals accordingly.
Look at how specific and measurable your education goals are. These goals should be specific enough that they are easily able to be seen and measured. An example of a measurable, specific, tangible goal is saying that you are going to improve your GPA from 2.5 to 3.0 within one semester. The goal is clear, able to be seen, and measurable. A goal that states that you want to just "improve your GPA" is not specific enough.
Identify whether or not there is a time line involved with your education goals. These goals should all have a short-term and a long-term time line. The short-term time line will ensure that you are making progress towards the ultimate goal at the end of the long-term time line. Having a time line is important because it will allow you to not only constantly evaluate your educational goals, but it will allow you to adjust them along the way. It is okay to adjust your educational goals during the evaluation process as long as they remain attainable.
