Complete the questionnaire as though it were the first time. Answer each question to the best of your ability. Consider the flow and overall thrust of the questionnaire to determine whether it suits its purpose. Using the first of the colored pens, mark any questions that seem out of place or unnecessary.
Read over your answers--are they focused and succinct? A good questionnaire will produce clear answers that deal directly with the research subject; a poor questionnaire will lead to rambling or irrelevant answers. Mark any such answers using the second colored pen.
Consider the ease with which you completed the questionnaire and note whether any additional information or material was needed to complete it. Consider the logistics of carrying out the questionnaire on a wider scale and of collating a large volume of responses. Mark any areas of the questionnaire that caused concern using the third pen.
Read over the questions and your answers again. Mark any questions that may present the possibility of unreliable answers. These include questions dependent on uncertain variables, such as time or location of the respondent. Mark any such questions with the fourth pen.
Note the overall research aims of the questionnaire, then reread your answers. There should be a clear link between the aims of the questionnaire and the end result, even if the individual questions appear clumsy or poor. Mark any discrepancies between the questionnaire's aims and its outcomes with the last pen.
