It is a public research university, specializing in new treatments for Alzheimer's, Huntington's, and Parkinson's. It also offers strong programs in fine arts and music. One of three campus locations in Florida, the Tampa location of Southwest Florida College is largely attended by students from the Tampa Bay area. Offering many associate's programs in the fields of education, computer programming, paralegalism, and web design, these programs generally only take two years to complete. Bachelor's degrees are also offered for elementary education, criminal justice, and interior design. For students who want a laid-back educational experience in a city environment, the Tampa campus of Southwest Florida College has a high percentage of acceptance.
