Students just starting their course work in accounting might be interested in Central Lakes College's two-year accounting associate's degree program. Most courses are held during the day, but students might be able to take some courses some in the evening or online. Classes include accounting principles, payroll accounting, income tax, cost accounting, business math, accounting information systems, computerized accounting software and legal environment of business. Courses will transfer to a traditional four-year college in Minnesota. Upon graduation, students can take the certified bookkeeper exam.
All applicants must submit an immunization form (measles, tetanus, mumps, diphtheria and rubella) and a transcript for their high school diploma or GED work. Students without a high school diploma or GED might be required to take entrance exams or complete other paperwork.

The AIB College of Business' bachelor of science in accounting may be completed within two years, focusing on topics such as cost management, forensic accounting, essential statistics, introduction to auditing, advanced and nonprofit auditing, advanced taxation and general education classes such as technical writing, college algebra and music appreciation.
Courses are held on Monday through Thursday online, with both part-time and full-time options. Students might be interested to know that AIB states a 98 percent career placement upon graduation. Applicants must have already completed an associate's degree in accounting and submit a health form.

Take your education in accounting further with a two-year graduate degree, the University of Wisconsin-Madison's graduate master of accountancy program. During the program, students will take courses such as accounting systems, intermediate financial reporting, fundamentals of taxation, corporate taxation, business law, financial statement analysis and intermediate managerial accounting. Students in the program are eligible for accounting scholarships, teaching assistant positions and paid internships the summer between the two years of the program.
Applicants do not have to have a bachelor's degree in accounting; any other undergraduate degree is permissible. Applicants should also have three letters of recommendation and submit an essay. Upon graduation, students are eligible to sit for the CPA exam.
