Accounting & Finance Degrees

Accounting and finance degrees require students to study courses in both accounting and finance, preparing them for work as bookkeepers, financial managers, accountants and analysts. Degrees in either accounting or finance offer courses with concentration in a chosen area and are commonly offered at universities.

    • Jobs in accounting are available in nearly every industry and there were 2.1 million positions held by accounting, bookkeeping and auditing clerks in 2008, according to the Occupation Information Network. Most financial management positions require a bachelor's degree and many job holders have obtained a master's degree or certification. In May 2008, according to the Occupation Information Network, the middle 50 percent of accountants made between $26,350 and $40,130 in annual wages, while the middle 50 percent of financial managers earned between $72,030 and $135,070.
