The Best Universities for Undergraduate Computer Science Degrees

Demand for computer specialists will persist, which is why an undergraduate degree in computer science is a popular choice. It's a degree that offers considerable job security and the skills needed to make a good income coming out of school. This is a competitive field, and it's no surprise that the three best universities for computer science degrees are also considered some of the best schools in the country.
  1. MIT

    • The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has the best undergraduate computer science program in the country, according to collegecrunch.org. U.S. News and World Report listed MIT's graduate computer science program as one of only four with a perfect score. Two separate undergraduate degrees are offered in computer science: computer science and engineering and computer science and electrical engineering.

    Carnegie Mellon University

    • Carnegie Mellon University is ranked as one of the top three U.S. computer science programs for both undergraduate and graduate programs, according to College Crunch. This school is also consistently in the top 20 list of the U.S. News & World Report lists of top computer science colleges. Carnegie Mellon is known for pioneering and developing many of the advanced computer technologies consumers enjoy today. As of 2010, there were four choices among computer science undergraduate degrees and an additional three minors. This program is also one of the most "theoretical" of computer science programs, which may explain why they excel at inventing new technologies.
