Virginia College has 14 locations in seven states. An applied science degree in diagnostic medical sonography is offered at their Birmingham, Alabama location and an associate's degree is available from their campus in Austin, Texas. Mercy College of Health Sciences is located in Des Moines, Iowa. Accreditation for the school is provided by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Additionally, the diagnostic medical imaging program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Students will study diagnostic procedures, ultrasound physics, bioethics and medical terminology. Admission requirements to the program include a high school diploma or GED, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and an ACT composite score of at least 21. The program also requires completed coursework in algebra I and II as well as biology. Scholarships to the diagnostic medical imaging program are available to selected students.

Located in Phoenix, Arizona, Grand Canyon University is a private Christian school that offers a bachelor's degree in medical imaging sciences. The school is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Students will study risk management, pharmacology, critical patient care in medical imaging and medical imaging in the digital environment. The medical imaging sciences program at Grand Canyon University requires applicants to already be an imaging technologist and hold an associate's degree or certificate of completion through an accredited vocational school. Additionally, applicants must also provide official school transcripts that show a minimum grade point average of 2.5.
