Make a study plan. Examine the exam outline, and include all of these elements in your study plan. Make sure your plan has a defined time line so you will complete all of the required study before the exam.
Meet with your supervisor. He will be able to give you feedback and advice for the upcoming exam. You may be able to tailor your current caseload in the lead up to the exam to ensure that you have the best preparation possible. In addition, he will have invaluable experience from past students and exams. Do your research and prepare a list of queries before meeting with your supervisor.
Organize a study group. Studying with others is an effective way to share knowledge and make study a more enjoyable, social experience.
Review your past cases. Examine the diagnoses, treatment plans and outcomes of each case to see what was most effective, and where you could have made improvements. You may want to do this in conjunction with a supervisor or colleagues who can give you a different perspective.
Complete the sample exams provided by the ASWB (see Resources).
