According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities for private investigators are expected to increase by 22 percent between 2008 and 2018. Private investigators are also known as private detectives. Although a formal education is not necessary, many private investigators continue their education and receive a post-secondary degree.
