Christian Equestrian Colleges

Equestrian colleges are designed for students who want a career that involves working with horses. Students who graduate from equestrian programs can expect to find jobs in the service industry. Most equestrian schools, especially those with Christian affiliations, require students to work with the community by using horses as a means for teaching and therapy.
  1. Canyonview Equestrian College

    • Canyonview Equestrian College is a Christian horsemanship college located in Oregon. The Canyonview website states that it hopes to use equestrian programs as a "tool of positive Christian ministry." Graduates of the college's two-year program receive a Certificate of Training in Equine-Based Ministries. Canyonview only accepts eight students per year, believing the small class size is the best way to achieve discipleship training. The college is non-denominational and requires students to gain ministry experience via the weekend horsemanship camp ministry held on campus. As of 2010, tuition for incoming students at Canyonview starts at just over $10,000.

    Judson College

    • Judson is an all-women college of about 300 students located in Marion, Alabama. Judson, established in 1838 by Baptist missionaries, was founded on the belief that there needed to be a Christian environment for young women to learn in. Today, an integral part of that is the equine studies program, which prepares students for a variety of careers, ranging from horse trainer to mounted patrol or veterinarian. Since 1997, the college has fielded a competitive riding team as a member school in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. The cost of attending Judson full-time is just over $6,500.
