Located in Chesapeake, Collins Career Center is a public vo-tech high school as well as an adult vocational training facility. The school offers a two-year sonography program for adults that carries the approval of the Commission on the Accreditation for Allied Health Education Programs. To qualify for admission to the program, students must complete prerequisite courses in physics, anatomy, algebra, communications, medical terminology and computer science. Once admitted, students attend classes and participate in clinical internships four days per week during daylight hours. The program covers techniques for abdominal, gynecological, obstetrical and vascular (ultrasound of the blood vessels) sonography. Federal loans and grants are available for qualified students.

Sanford-Brown Institute is a private, for-profit career school with a branch in Middleburg Heights, a suburb of Cleveland. The college offers two diploma programs in diagnostic medical sonography: one in cardiovascular (ultrasound of the heart) and vascular sonography and one in abdominal, obstetric and gynecologic sonography. Students receive hands-on practice through laboratory courses on campus as well as through a professional externship completed prior to graduation in a Cleveland-area medical facility. Both programs require around one year of full-time study and are approved by the Commission on the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. Qualified students can benefit from federal and state financial aid, institutional scholarships to offset the cost for tuition. The college offers job placement assistance for all students.

University of Rio Grande & Rio Grande Community College is located in Rio Grande in southeastern Ohio. The college offers both a two-year Associate of Applied Science and a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in diagnostic medical sonography. At the associate degree level, students can elect to study cardiovascular sonography or abdominal, obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound. The baccalaureate program incorporates all of the courses for both associate degrees. Students complete three to six clinical rotations prior to graduation, depending on the degree. The college participates in federal and state grants and loans, private lending programs and veteran's benefits and also offers institutional scholarships and work-study placements.
