Full Gospel colleges focus on educating people active within the Full Gospel movement. Most Full Gospel colleges offer training for those hoping to become ministers in the Full Gospel movement. Most Full Gospel colleges offer associate and bachelor's degrees, and some offer master's degrees, too. Full Gospel colleges generally also offer courses to students wishing to study only one or two topics, such as Bible studies. Some Full Gospel colleges, such as the Full Gospel Christian Church and Bible College, also offer advanced training and advanced degrees to those already involved in ministry.
It is possible to study online with some Full Gospel colleges. For example, Focus Bible College offers online courses in Bible studies, one-year diploma courses, and bachelor's and master's degrees in ministry and theology. Online Full Gospel colleges are a good choice for students who are interested in studying at their own pace and saving money, as online colleges tend to be much cheaper than campus-based Full Gospel colleges. Online colleges such as Focus Bible also expect students to hand in workbooks and to take online exams.
Full Gospel colleges focus entirely on theology and religion, and do not tend to offer courses in other subjects. Courses generally include topics such as Bible study, preaching, church history, counselling, principles of leadership, Western thought, urban ministry and tools for effective communication. The emphasis is on preparing students to participate and minister in the Full Gospel movement. Some colleges -- such as Eston College, in Eston, Saskatchewan, Canada -- offer diploma courses aimed at those who want to work within the Full Gospel Church and those preparing for work as ministers.
The students at Full Gospel colleges primarily belong to the Full Gospel movement, but enrollment is not limited by religion; anyone is welcome. Students are expected to participate, however, in daily and weekly worship services. Older students are accepted at Full Gospel colleges, and many colleges offer one-year programs to students who wish to spend time engaged in Bible studies before going on to a nonreligious college or university. Full Gospel colleges require students pursing degrees to have a high school diploma or GED, but this may not be necessary at all Full Gospel colleges for students taking non-degree courses.
