SUNY is located in Purchase, New York. SUNY offers a four-year program to obtain a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. New York University Tisch School of the Arts provides a four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts program. In order to earn the degree in fine arts, students must complete a core curriculum as well as classes such as musical theater, design, directing and stage management. After students complete their first year, they may choose from more than 200 performance opportunities annually to audition for, ranging from large productions to small theater pieces.
The Julliard School is a highly recognized school, located in New York City. An audition is required to gain acceptance into Julliard. It offers a Diploma in Drama as well as Bachelor of Fine Arts. Upon studying at Julliard, students will take courses such as Dramatic Interpretation, Theater History and Prose and Poetry. Julliard students who concentrate their studies in drama are cast in plays and rehearse under the guidance of professional staff and directors. In their fourth year, students are placed in plays viewed by directors, agents and casting directors from all over the country.
California Institute of the Arts is located in Valencia, California, and offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Students attending California Institute of the Arts can expect to take courses such as acting studio, voice/speech and movement. This school provides in-class production and close one-on-one mentoring for students. The school also has a Community Arts Partnership which links with more than 40 arts organizations to provide arts education to youth in Los Angeles. The program allows eligible students to acquire teaching experience.
