Christian Universities With Human Services Degrees

Human services is a way to meet human requirements by preventing and alleviating problems; the field also focuses on improving the overall quality of life. Christian universities throughout the country offer degrees in human services, but programs vary by school.   1. Lubbock

    • Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, Texas, has an online Master of Science in Human Services degree program that teaches how to work with family and children to help them through trying times. Students can choose from three different specializations: child life specialist, administration and family life educator.

      The child life specialist concentration teaches students how to work with ill children, and the administration specialization is for students who want to write policy and plan strategies for agencies. The family life educator specialization teaches students how to work with family on conflict resolution. Course work includes marital and family education, leadership and crisis intervention.

    Southwestern Christian

    • Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma, offers a Bachelor of Science in Human and Family Services degree that focuses improving people's lives and providing families with a stable foundation. This program prepares students for a career in social services, family program management, and child welfare and services aid. It also prepares students for a master's degree in counseling.

      This is an 18-month program and course work includes wisdom literature, cultural diversity, abnormal psychology and statistics.

    Kentucky Christian

    • Kentucky Christian University's School of Social Work and Human Services, in Grayson, Kentucky, has a Bachelor of Science in Counseling Psychology degree program that provides students with the skills needed for an entry-level human service position.

      The program combines psychology and Christian theology resources to deal with human issues. Students learn about the factors that lead to human diversity and how to combine Christian thought with counseling practice and theory.

      Students must complete a counseling psychology internship to qualify for the degree.

    Liberty University

    • Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, offers a Master of Arts in Human Services degree with a 30-hour course in business specialization. Students must maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average to graduate and must complete the course work within five years. This course is available in the classroom or online.

      Core course work includes human growth and development, human services overview, group dynamics, and the integration of psychology and theology. Students must also take courses in their specialization, including managerial finance, business legal issues and strategic marketing management.
