Pass the National League for Nursing Pre-Admission Exam for Registered Nursing Programs (NLN PAX-RN) or other state-required pre-enrollment exams. Complete all prerequisites, and fulfill any general education requirements. Complete courses in chemistry, biology, political science and college-level mathematics with a grade of "C" or better.
Complete additional courses in fundamental principles of nursing and nursing theory within the first year. Take elective courses within the second year in obstetrics and pediatric nursing.
Register for required standardized testing. Pass university and departmental tests before moving to the second year coursework. Register and complete any advanced placement testing and classwork.
Sit for the RN licensing exam, after completion of all ASN degree requirements. Register and pay all examination fees to take the NCLEX.
Apply for a job as an RN or PN with a clinic, hospital or long-term care facility. Gain at least two years of experience, before submitting an application to a BSN program.
Enroll in a BSN program. Visit the on-campus advising office and complete a credit transfer form to convert the ASN to a BSN. Transfer all ASN-earned credits to the BSN program.
Complete additional upper division coursework in the nursing major. File for graduation to obtain the BSN. Repeat this process for BSN to MSN degree options.
