Architecture Colleges & Universities

The United States is home to various architecture colleges and universities. Some of these schools are ranked in the upper echelon of the world's architecture schools. These schools typically offer architecture degree programs for either graduate or undergraduate students.
  1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology

    • One of the most revered math and science schools in the United States is also one of the top architecture schools in the country. MIT's School of Architecture and Planning has both degree and nondegree programs for the graduate and undergraduate levels. The school also features five core program areas: architectural design; building technology; computation; history, theory and criticism and art, culture and technology. For the 2010 to 2011 school year the approximate cost for tuition, room and board was $52,000.

    California Polytechnic State University

    • California Polytechnic State University's Architecture & Environmental Design program is rated as one of the top architecture programs in the country. The school has five departments based in architecture: architectural engineering; architecture; city and regional planning; construction management and landscape architecture. Within those five departments are seven different degree programs offered at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In 2011, Cal Poly's College of Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) had an approximate enrollment of 1,900 students.

    University of Texas

    • The School of Architecture at the University of Texas in Austin boasts undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Undergraduate degrees are either professional degrees or preprofessional degrees -- professional degrees are earned in a five-year program, and the preprofessional degree requires only four years. University of Texas' School of Architecture offers two graduate degrees: the M.Arch. I and the M.Arch. II. The former fulfills professional architect degree requirements while the latter is an advanced degree that affords recipients the ability to teach architecture at the college level.

    University of Cincinnati

    • The University of Cincinnati features the School of Architecture and Interior Design. According to the school's website, "International Design magazine listed UC among the globe's Top Ten design schools - and the only public institution to make that list." The school offers degree programs to undergraduates and graduates. Degrees include a bachelor of science in architecture, a bachelor of science in interior design, a master's degree in architecture and a master of science in architecture.
